MISSION

Gather and disseminate information to the public from the PA Municipalities Planning Code, the Oil & Gas Act, the oil and gas industry and county and local zoning and land use plans for comparison as it relates to natural gas & oil exploration in Fayette County

ACTION ITEMS

Review County and local Zoning Ordinance, Land Use Plan and other related ordinances/plans for necessary updates

Research decisions of the Zoning Hearing Board, Planning Commission and Commissioners

Make recommendations to appropriate agencies

Inform the public of the county and local pending/scheduled hearings and recent decisions/rulings

RESULTS - ACTION TAKEN OR RECOMMENDED

Regulation of Marcellus Shale gas extraction is under state and federal jurisdiction Oil & Gas Act while land use issues are under the jurisdiction of either the Fayette County Zoning Office or if your local municipality has its own zoning contact your local office (your township supervisors/council). All local zoning must be in compliance with the PA Municipalities Planning Code

Beginning November 6 2010 we will post, as best we can, Notice of Public Hearings before the Fayette County Zoning Hearing Board, Planning Commission and Rezonings and Commissioner Meetings all related to Marcellus Shale issues Click Here
